Declaring April 4, 2025 as Women in Tech Day in the City of Philadelphia, and recognizing the importance of women in technology, emphasizing their contributions, promoting STEM education and careers for women and girls, and expanding gender equity in the technology field.

WHEREAS, Women in Tech Day, celebrated on April 4th, is a global observance that honors women’s contributions to the technology industry. This day has grown into a worldwide movement that unites companies, organizations, and various groups to support a more inclusive and diverse tech environment; and
WHEREAS, Starting in 2024, Women in Tech Day marks a day of celebration and truly embodies the sentiment that “Women in Tech Day is Every Day”, which is a phrased coined by the Founder Anna Radulovski; and
WHEREAS, The WomenTech Network spearheaded the International Women in Tech Day, which has cultivated support from 200 community partners worldwide. This global movement has fought to increase action towards greater gender inclusion in tech, gain recognition, and foster awareness for women and girls in technology; and
WHEREAS, The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Women Tech Network Anna Radulovski launched the WomenTech Network in 2017. She is a champion for girls and women in the tech industry, her initiative aims to bolster, honor, and empower females in the tech realm globally; and
WHEREAS, Women in Tech Day is dedicated to forging paths, dismantling obstacles, and elevating women within the technological landscape. Through the profound resilience of the WomenTech Network they have become a transformative guide in the fight to foster an environment that supports the success and grown of women in tech; and
WHEREAS, In 2023, The WomenTech Network has remarkably achieved a milestone of gaining 100,000 members that extends its influence across the 179 countries. This significant level of grow goes to further underscores the dedication to inclusion, promoting diversity, and empowerment on a global scale and the network’s impact; and
WHEREAS, Women face distinct and unique obstacle in the tech industry have experienced throughout their careers, which emphasizes the need for the imperative fostering of gender parity in the field. The impact behind Women in Tech Day reinforces the need for empowerment, inclusion, increased advocacy for the advancement of women, and celebrating the contributions that women have made in the tech industry; and
WHEREAS, Latinas in Tech is another nonprofit organization committed to bridging the gender and ethnic gap in the technology industry. With a mission to empower and support Latina professionals and enthusiasts, Latinas in Tech provides access to resources, mentorship, and a robust community network to foster innovation and leadership. This organization is dedicated to providing crucial resources, mentorship opportunities, and a vibrant community network to enable Latina professionals and aspiring tech enthusiasts to thrive and lead in the field. While the organization has made significant strides, with thriving chapters across the country and world, including in cities like New York, there has been a notable absence in Pennsylvania - until now; and
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby declares April 4, 2025 as Women in Tech Day in the City of Philadelphia, and recognizing the importance of women in technology, emphasizing their contributions, promoting STEM education and careers for women and girls, and expanding gender equity in the technology field.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Latinas in Tech as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
