Honoring and congratulating the Neumann-Goretti girls basketball team on winning the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship.

WHEREAS, Guided by Coach Andrea Peterson and her dedicated staff-Assistant Coaches Darius Holman, Eric Scott, Gio Johnson, and Jabria Ingram-the Neumann-Goretti Saints have proven they are back where they belong: at the top of the Philadelphia Catholic League besting Archbishop Carroll High School 50-43 at the Palestra on Sunday, February 23, 2025; and
WHEREAS, This victory marks the second PCL Championship for Head Coach Andrea Peterson, who has once again led her squad to glory. But this win was about more than just history-it was about heart, resilience, and the leadership of seniors Amya Scott and Carryn Easley; and
WHEREAS, Scott, a First Team All-Catholic selection, was a force on both ends of the floor, while Easley, the PCL MVP and also a First Team All-Catholic honoree, delivered another dominant performance when it mattered most. The Saints also got a massive boost off the bench from Zion Coston, who came up clutch with key baskets and relentless defensive energy; and
WHEREAS, This Championship wasn’t won by just a few; it was a collective effort from the entire team, whose depth, defense, and determination pushed them to victory. Shoutout to the entire squad who contributed throughout the season. The team: Carryn Easley, Amya Scott, Kamora Berry, Zion Coston, Reginna Baker, Chrisette King, Haniyyah Morgan-Solis, London Thompson, Skylier Stewart, Milan Carr and Karleema Myers; and
WHEREAS, A couple of stats from this Championship team: Carryn Easley - 1,000 pt scorer, 24/25 PCL MVP and 1st Team All Catholic (Playing at Fordham next year); Amya Scott - 1,000 pt scorer, 24/25 1st Team All Catholic (Playing at Delaware State next year); Kamora Berry - 2nd Team All Catholic, hit 80 3's this year; Reginna Baker - 1st Team All Catholic and is close to a 1,000 pts as a sophomore; Coach Andrea Peterson - Winning her 200th career victory this season; and
WHEREAS, The Cathedral, the Palestra, once again became the proving ground for champions, and the Neumann-Goretti Saints answered the call. After nearly a decade, the Saints are back on top, capturing their first Philadelphia Catholic League Championship since their back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, defeating Archbishop Carroll 50-43 in a thrilling battle; now, therefore, be it
