Recognizing Argenis Figueroa For His Career In Media And Service To Philadelphia’s Latino Community
 
Body
WHEREAS, Argenis Figueroa is a journalist based in Philadelphia who has spent his entire broadcast career reporting local and national news to Philadelphia’s Latino Community; and
 
WHEREAS, Figueroa was born and raised on the Isla de Margarita in Venezuela and lived most of his early adult life there as well. As a result of the political situation that Venezuela faces to this day, he arrived in the United States of America in August 2015, as a consequence of political persecution in order to be a social communicator and show his dissent from the communist practices that tortured students in his country; and
 
WHEREAS, Before coming to the US, he obtained degrees in Computer Science and Bachelor in Statistics and Journalism. Argenis has had a successful career in the airline industry, rising to the position of Airport Manager for over 7 years, and later transitioned into the media, excelling as a Commercial Announcer and actor; and
 
WHEREAS, As an immigrant, he managed to complete his studies in Journalism in Miami until he came to New Jersey and Philadelphia in 2019 where he earned a Master's Degree in Strategic Planning and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Communication, and began his career as a reporter in Philadelphia; and
 
WHEREAS, As a reporter, Figueroa has been recognized for work informing and supporting the development of the Hispanic community in the tri-state area for over 4 years. In his reports he highlights and investigates information and resources that federal, state and local governments have available for communities to improve their quality of life; and
 
WHEREAS, Argenis is a comprehensive journalist who has participated individually as a citizen in community meetings that seek solutions to the crisis of gun violence, opioids and social issues that are manifesting in North and Southern Philadelphia.; and
 
RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes Argenis Figueroa for his career in Media and Service to Philadelphia’s Latino Community
 
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Argenis Figueroa as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body.
