WHEREAS, Paul Beale's Flowers, founded on May 1, 1971, at 7220 Ogontz Avenue, Philadelphia, represents the fulfillment of a lifelong dream of its founder, Paul Beale. After dedicating over 15 years to managing another florist, Paul and his wife, Altermese, took a bold step to establish their own flower shop, beginning a legacy of excellence and commitment to their community; and
WHEREAS, From its inception, Paul Beale’s Flowers was a family-run business, with Paul and Altermese working tirelessly seven days a week to ensure the highest quality service. Despite the significant challenge of supporting three children in college, their dedication and hard work laid the foundation for a flourishing business. Over the past 50 years, Paul Beale’s Flowers has become a beloved full-service florist, renowned for its exceptional floral arrangements for all occasions, including funerals, birthdays, anniversaries, and everyday celebrations; and
WHEREAS, The business has continued to thrive and serve the community with distinction, offering local and worldwide delivery services. Although Paul Beale passed away on May 24, 2020, his legacy endures through his family, who proudly uphold his tradition of quality and service. Today, his wife, two daughters, grandson, and great-grandson are dedicated to continuing his vision and ensuring that Paul Beale’s Flowers remains a cornerstone of floral excellence in Philadelphia; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby honors Paul Beale’s Flowers for its remarkable 50-year history and its enduring impact on the community. We commend the Beale family for their unwavering dedication and commitment to maintaining the high standards set forth by Paul Beale. We celebrate their contributions and look forward to the continued success of this cherished local business.
FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Paul Beale’s Flowers as an expression of the admiration and respect of this legislative body.
