Recognizing the month of August 2024 as “Public Safety Awareness Month” in the City of Philadelphia

WHEREAS, Ensuring the safety and security of all Philadelphia residents is a top priority for the City and the respective communities; and
WHEREAS, Raising awareness about public safety best practices and available resources can empower citizens to take an active role in keeping their neighborhoods secure; and
WHEREAS, Collaborative efforts between law enforcement, government agencies, community organizations, and residents are crucial for promoting a culture of public safety in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, The Town Watch Integrated Services promotes safety and supports quality of life through community policing and other neighborhood programs; and
WHEREAS, Designating a month to highlight public safety initiatives will provide additional opportunities for educational campaigns, community events, and strengthening partnerships aimed at enhancing the well-being of all Philadelphians; and
WHEREAS, The Council recognizes the importance of public safety and shows our appreciation for their contributions of those who work to keep Philadelphia safe; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the month of August 2024 be recognized as “Public Safety Awareness Month” in the City of Philadelphia.
