Honoring and celebrating the School District of Philadelphia’s All-City Orchestra for their outstanding performance at WrestleMania XL, where they displayed musical excellence and proudly represented the City of Philadelphia on an international stage.

WHEREAS, The School District of Philadelphia proudly maintains a 70-year tradition of an all-city music program featuring exceptionally talented high school students from across the city; and
WHEREAS, With only a week to prepare, the Philadelphia School District’s All-City Orchestra, consisting of 90 instrumentalists and 10 vocalists, quickly prepared to represent their entire city with excellence on the global stage at Wrestlemania XL; and
WHEREAS, Wrestlemania XL is one of many internationally recognized events that brings critical economic opportunities to Philadelphia and showcases all that Philadelphia has to offer to the global scene; and
WHEREAS, WrestleMania XL, the 40th annual WrestleMania, occurred on April 6th and 7th, 2024, at Lincoln Financial Field, setting a new attendance record with 145,298 fans over the two-night event, making it the most attended WrestleMania in history; and
WHEREAS, On the second night of the event, student musicians from the Philadelphia School District's All-City Orchestra performed for a sold-out crowd of more than 70,000 fans, center-stage at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, as the dynamic WWE Superstar Roman Reigns entered the arena; and
WHEREAS, With their performance, these Philadelphian student musicians honor the City’s rich music history, including the famous Philadelphia Sound that defined the 1970s, culture defining hip-hop artists like Will “The Fresh Prince” Smith, Meek Mill, artists as recent as Tierra Whack and countless other musical artists native to the City of brotherly love and sisterly and sibling affection; and
WHEREAS, As an expression of appreciation for the students’ performance, the WWE plans to make a donation to support the All-City Music Program; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Honors and congratulates the Philadelphia School District’s All-City Orchestra for their performance at WrestleMania XL, where they displayed musical excellence and represented the City of Philadelphia with pride.
