Recognizing and congratulating Da’Vine Joy Randolph, a proud Philadelphia native, for her Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and for her exceptional journey and contributions to the fine visual and performing arts.

WHEREAS, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, a Philadelphia native, has roots deeply embedded in the historic Mt. Airy neighborhood of our city and during her formative years, Da’Vine attended the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, showcasing her dedication to the pursuit of artistic excellence; and
 
WHEREAS, Upon completing her high school education, Da’Vine returned to her beloved Philadelphia, choosing to further her studies at Temple University's vocal performance and opera program, later transitioning her focus to the realm of musical theater; and
 
WHEREAS, Randolph continued to hone her craft by studying drama at Yale University and studying Shakespeare at Oxford University in London; and
 
WHEREAS, With an unwavering commitment to her work, Randolph embarked on a career in theater, marked by her dedication and passion. Her journey in theater commenced with an understudy role in the Broadway transfer of Ghost in the UK, a pivotal moment that set the stage for her flourishing career; and
 
WHEREAS, Demonstrating her exceptional talent and dedication, Da’Vine Joy Randolph not only continued her role on Broadway in 2012 but also achieved the highest recognition in the theater world by winning a Tony Award for her portrayal; and
 
WHEREAS, Beyond theater, Da’Vine’s television journey included a starring role in the cult classic Selfie, where she left an indelible mark on the small screen. She also held star roles in the “Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show” and the widely acclaimed, Emmy award winning series, “This is Us;” and
 
WHEREAS, Da’Vine Joy Randolph has also extended her artistic prowess to the realm of film, leaving her cinematic mark in roles for critically acclaimed productions such as “Dolemite is My Name” and “The United States vs. Billie Holiday;” and
 
WHEREAS, Da’Vine Joy Randolph has garnered acclaim and recognition throughout her career, earning not just a Tony Award in 2012, but also subsequent accolades from the NAACP in 2020, a multitude of Critics Choice Awards, and a Golden Globe in 2024, highlighting her outstanding contributions and achievements in the realms of theater and entertainment; and
